WHEN I WAS YOUNG

MIRIAN'S STORY

Mirian Lopez was born in May of 1956. She was born in Barranquilla/Atlantic in Colombia. Her father, Guillermo Lopez, he came from a village of Bolivar and her mother, Martina Rojas came from a village of South Bolivar. She came from a poor family. The family's financial situation wasn’t well off.

Children mirian studied at the university Simon Bolivar international business but it was not what she wanted, She graduated when she was 20 and she graduated with honors and after that he went out to travel around the world, she never gave herself a chance to meet a man, I think that If Mirian had married she would have a husband, a family and wouldn’t be alone.

If mirian had had better opportunities in her life she would have studied bank advisory, she said one day that her life would have been different if she had been born with exemplary parents, she said her life would have been different with children.

If she had thought about having children her life would not have been so sad and lonely. In 2020 Mirian is alone and has had the money she never thought, if Mirian hadn't thought only about money, she would have her happy family.

Today I will talk about my english class, today my teacher talks about Reported speech, and I search in google about this topic.

Indirect style or reported speech is the way you can tell, explain, write or say something with your own words, changing verbal time to the past. It differs from direct speech in this way, since direct speech implies that you say or write everything verbatim and exactly as it happened.

You have to take into account the times in this topic to make it easier to learn, I will give you an example of each time and you can see the difference.

EXAMPLE:

• I’ve bought a new cushion. ⇨ She said she had bought a new cushion.
• I’ve swum with sharks. ⇨ She said she had swum with sharks.

Past Perfect ⇨ Past Perfect

• The jury had had many doubts about the case. ⇨ She said the jury had had many doubts about the case.

Can ⇨ Could

• I can’t understand Scottish people. ⇨ She said she couldn’t understand Scottish people.
• I can play the piano. ⇨ He said he could play the piano.

Will ⇨ Would

• I’ll take the rubbish out this evening. ⇨ He said he would take the rubbish out that evening.
• I’ll love you forever. ⇨ She said she’d love me forever.

Situations or Events 

• Last night my brother wanted to see movies but my dad was using the TV so I stop watching tv and lend him my tv so he can watch his movie, what would you have done?
• Last week the tickets to Madrid were on discount I knew that my mom wanted to go there so I mentioned it to her, she said very sad that she had no money to buy them, and I decided to buy them taking money from my savings, who would not have done the same?

MIRIAN'S SUPERSTITIONS 

First, I will define what is for me a superstitions: 

• A superstitions is a type of belief that tends to have no scientific reason or tends to involve the supernatural. They may be related to religion or have passed from generation to generation without a clear origin.

Fate, magic, fear, bad luck or good luck play an important role here.

                                       TYPES OF SUPERSTITIONS FOR ME:

1.  If the laces of your left shoe are untied you will find a lot of money.
2. To be lucky in love you must go to the beach as deep as you can go and take a drink of water.
3. Sighing longer than necessary will take away your good fortune.
4. Giving your lover shoes will make him run away from you.
5. Eating sticky food will give you good fortune and elephant memory.

A book that comes home

In 1920, while the American novelist Anne Parrish was touring the bookstores in Paris, she came across a copy of one of her favorite childhood books: Jack Frost and other stories. She took the old book off the shelf and showed it to her husband telling him that it was the book she fondly remembered from her childhood. Her husband opened the copy and on the first page discovered the inscription: "Anne Parrish, 209 N. Weber Street, Colorado Spring". My opinion: my opinion of this story is that, It was the same book that had met its owner half a world away, she had the incredible book in her hand and never seen that  was her book.
